Molecular Basis of Disease Awards
The MBD Outstanding Fellow Award recognizes excellence in research conducted by MBD fellows.
Eligibility criteria are:
- Current MBD Fellow
- First-time award recipient
- Significance of research, demonstrated promise as a researcher, outstanding contributions to research, originality of research, and depth of imagination
Application requirements are:
- Nomination letter submitted by faculty (no longer than two pages), outlining the unique characteristics and outstanding research that make the candidate ideal for this award.
- Two-page resume including descriptions of research, published papers, and external awards/recognitions received by the candidate.

The MBD Research Enhancement Award provides fellows with the opportunity to visit collaborator labs and participate in interdisciplinary workshops, gaining experience in cutting-edge biomedical techniques. Principal investigators’ initial contributions of up to $2,500 will be matched by MBD.

- Nomination letter submitted by the principal investigator (no longer than two pages), outlining the unique characteristics and outstanding research that make the candidate ideal for this award.
- Two-page resume including descriptions of research, published papers, and external awards/recognitions received by the candidate.

The travel award of $700 is offered to MBD fellows to attend conferences and present their research.
